How Do We Work?

Our approach is that of Neo-Erickson Hypnotherapy, complimented by Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and some Neuro Linguistic interventions.

This combination of respected psychotherapeutic techniques have a number of advantages including

  • they deal with issues without need to repeatedly revisit traumatic experiences from the past
  • they ensure that the client enjoys a positive mindset
  • they are easily implemented
  • they are effective in a much shorter time than other therapeutic approaches
  • they are more cost effective for the client.

Clients attend prearranged individual sessions at one of our clinics (either Oldland Common or Clifton) for up to one hour. During that time we discuss progress to date and assess the clients goals. Approximately half of the session is spent with the client in hypnotic trance.

Smoking cessation sessions are two hours long.

What is Hypnosis? Should You Be Concerned About Trance?

Trance is a perfectly natural state to be in. We do it naturally everyday when daydreaming. It is a feeling of complete relaxation and tranquility. There is absolutely nothing to be concerned about in Hypnotic Trance.

You may be interested to know that

  • you are aware of everything that is happening around you whilst you are in trance
  • your mind will only accept what you want it to accept
  • you cannot be made to do anything that you do not want to do
  • you may go to sleep during trance or you may be awake, either way hypnosis works
Hypnotherapy is a completely different discipline to "Stage Hypnosis". Whilst in our care, there is never any possibility of clients experiencing any of the ridicule etc that is seen during television and theatre performances by entertainers using power of suggestion to simulate "Hypnosis".
