About Us and Our Work
We are a family based practice, working in and around Bristol and the West Country. Our genuine mission is to treat clients effectively, using the latest techniques and research, in order to help them to improve their quality of life. This might include treating a range of conditions, from mild confidence problems to full depression and anxiety.
Whatever it is that bothers YOU as an individual, we promise you an excellent quality of care and treatment.
Andy is our Clinical Hypnotherapist. Having trained at the inspirational and nationally renowned Clifton Practice, he delivers up to date and forward thinking therapy. The quality and level of
training he has undergone is reflected in his qualifications and
professional memberships. Andy brings considerable life experience and understanding to his role as a hypnotherapist and has achieved great success with clients, presenting many varying issues, as a result. Andy is proud to serve as an executive committee member for the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapists.
Andy is also qualified in Auricular Acupuncture and Reiki.
Karen Workman is our Practice Manager. She deals with the business side of the practice in order to allow Andy time to concentrate fully on delivering the highest quality of treatment to our clients. Karen has spent most of her career in Admin and Managerial roles, and brings a wealth of experience to our practice. She also has a first hand knowledge of natural therapies, being qualified in Auricular Acupuncture and Reiki. Andrew and Karen are the very proud parents of sons, Sam, who is currently studying Business Management at University in Liverpool and Adam who works as a Sales Supervisor with Hugo Boss.
What Is Clinical Hypnotherapy?
Our therapy is at the forefront of Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy. Many Hypnotherapists will pigeon-hole themselves to single approaches but as a Clinical Hypnotherapist Andy is able to utilise a "toolbox" of various therapies including Ericksonian Hypnotherapy, Solution Focused Brief Hypnotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming. By carefully formulating a bespoke approach for each customer, Andy provides an service that is unique to their individual needs.
Clients are NOT expected to recount and relive painful memories or experiences. During therapy sessions, clients are only required to look towards positive goals that they wish to achieve.
How Do We Work?
Our
approach is that of Solution Focussed Hypnotherapy (Neo-Erickson
Hypnotherapy, complimented by Solution Focused Brief Therapy - SFBT).
Andy also employs some interventions from Cognitive Behaviour Hypnotherapy (CBT Hyp) and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP).
This combination of respected psycho-therapeutic techniques has a number of advantages including
they deal with issues without need to repeatedly revisit traumatic experiences from the past
they ensure that the client enjoys a positive mindset
they are easily implemented
they are effective in a much shorter time than other therapeutic approaches
they are more cost effective for the client.
Clients
attend prearranged individual sessions at one of our clinics (either
Oldland Common or Clifton) for up to one hour. During that time we
discuss progress to date and assess the clients goals. Approximately
half of the session is spent with the client enjoying hypnotic trance.
Smoking cessation sessions are two hours long.
What is Hypnosis? Should You Be Concerned About Trance?
Trance
is a perfectly natural state to be in. We do it naturally everyday when
daydreaming. It is a feeling of complete relaxation and tranquility.
There is absolutely nothing to be concerned about in Hypnotic Trance.
You may be interested to know that
you are aware of everything that is happening around you whilst you are in trance
your mind will only accept what you want it to accept
you cannot be made to do anything that you do not want to do
you may go to sleep during trance or you may be awake, either way hypnosis works
Hypnotherapy
is a completely different discipline to "Stage Hypnosis". Whilst in our
care, there is never any possibility of clients experiencing any of the
ridicule etc that is seen during television and theatre performances by
entertainers using power of suggestion to simulate "Hypnosis".
What is Auricular Acupuncture?
Auricular Acupuncture (or Auriculotherapy) is the use of fine sterile needles to stimulate specific points on the ear that relate to the rest of the body. Much like Full Body Acupuncture (or other therapies like Reflexology), the treatment restores balance to the body.
The benefits of Auricular Acupuncture include that the patient does not need to undress for treatment.
The treatment is particularly effective in the treatment of stress and anxiety, weight management and smoking or alcohol detoxification. As such it is endorsed and widely used within the National Health Service, Prison Service and other public services.
All needles are sterile, used once and disposed of after use.
Those suffering from fears such as Aichmophobia (sharp points) or Trypanophobia (medical injections) are not excluded as self adhesive seed magnets can be applied instead of needles.
As a relaxing treatment Auricular Acupuncture compliments Hypnotherapy perfectly.
Full details can be obtained at the Initial Consultation.
